By the time the semi-final was to be played, the Connacht championship was not finished, so Sligo were nominated to represent Connacht. When Galway beat Sligo in the Connacht final, they were given Sligo’s place in the All-Ireland Final.

The All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship 1922 was the 36th series of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, Ireland’s premier hurling knock-out competition. Kilkenny won the championship, beating Tipperary 4-2 to 2-6 in the final.

World Cup 2002.

The 2002 FIFA World Cup was the 17th FIFA World Cup, an international association football tournament for men’s national teams. It was held from 31 May to 30 June 2002 in South Korea and Japan, making it the first World Cup held in Asia. It was also the last World Cup in which the golden goal  rule was implemented. Brazil won the tournament for a record fifth time, beating Germany 2–0 in the final. Turkey beat South Korea 3–2 in the third place play-off match. China PR, Ecuador, Senegal and Slovenia made their first appearances at the finals, with Turkey making its first appearance since 1954.
